Siminalayi Fubara, the Rivers State governor, has stated that his predecessor,
Nyesom Wike remains his principal.
Fubara made this known on Thursday, at the rededication service of the 2023/2024 legal year of the Rivers state judiciary held at Saint Cyprian Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Wike, who is currently the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was present at the church service.
Speaking at the event, Fubara said the recent political crisis in the state belonged to the past and urged residents to relax their minds.
“My oga (referring to Wike) remains my oga. Whatever that has happened is in the past.
“I want us to continue to pray for the peace and development of this state. I have not sent anybody to malign anybody”, he stated.
CRUX NEWS reports that there has been tension in Rivers state over the past few weeks following the alleged feud between Fubara and Wike.
In the wake of the crisis, the Rivers House of Assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against the governor.
On October 29, a section of the assembly complex was gutted by fire. There were speculations that the fire incident was orchestrated to prevent the lawmakers from initiating impeachment proceedings against Fubara.
