The 2023 Emir of Ilorin Football Competition is set to come to a grand close on Saturday, November 11th at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The annual competition, which is popularly known as the Emir’s Cup, is organised by the Ilorin Emirate Football Council to commemorate the 28th coronation anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.
The grand finale will feature an exciting showdown between Police Machine and Musty FC, while the third-place playoff between Okaa Sports FC and Adezzy FC is scheduled to take place at the same venue by 2 p.m., an hour before the kick-off of the final match.
Alhaji Owolabi Wopa, the Chairman of the main Organising Committee, assured that the committee is fully prepared to host a hitch-free grand finale, and commended all the teams for exhibiting the true spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will grace the occasion as the special guest of honour.
Also expected to be in attendance are the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, and Senator Saliu Mustapha, who will both chair the event.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Nimota Akanbi and Sa’adat Belgore are the Chairpersons for the day.
Notably, the grand finale will be graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; Emirs of Gwandu, Kano, Bauchi and Bichi; and the Oni of Ife, Ataoja of Oshogbo, among others.
With a keen sense of anticipation, football enthusiasts, dignitaries, and residents of Ilorin are eagerly anticipating this year’s edition of the Emir’s Cup.
