The Progressive Governors’ Forum has criticized their counterparts in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over their inciteful utterances against the Tinubu-led administration.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State,Senator Hope Uzodinma made this known in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.
While reacting to the press briefing by PDP Governors on Monday where they likened Nigeria to another Venezuela, Uzodinma stressed that the governors are stakeholders in the government, adding that it wasn’t befitting of them to apportion blame but to collaborate with the president to tackle the economic and security challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, the governors had only highlighted problems but failed to proffer any tangible solutions to the problems.
He accused them of inciting the citizens against the government as their statement, “Ultimately, the decision rests squarely with Nigerians and other organs in the country to ensure that we take actions that will bring relief to all of us ” was capable of igniting the already tensed and volatile atmosphere in the country.
Uzodinma said, “As leaders, mere criticisms or even playing to the gallery for public applause is not the way to go. Engaging in the blame games is also not the way to go. All of us are members of the National Economic Council, where we have the opportunity to make our inputs. I don’t think my colleagues have exhausted that avenue.”
He further stated his conviction that the President Tinubu was working assiduously to ensure that the economy is brought back to shape for Nigerians to rejoice again.
