In 2022, WWE Superstar, Rhea Ripley confidently confirmed her relationship with AEW Star, Buddy Matthews while interacting with fans on social media.
The WWE superstar and Matthews had previously worked together in WWE from 2017 to ’21, before Matthews made his debut in AEW in February 2022.
He joined forces with Malakai Black and Brody King to form the House of Black, and the trio clinched the AEW world trios championship from the Elite at Revolution on March 5.
Meanwhile, Ripley has continued to make waves in WWE, emerging as one of the most valuable superstars this year.
She made history as the first woman to win the Royal Rumble as the No. 1 entrant and went on to defeat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 to claim the SmackDown women’s title.
Despite her kayfabe romance with Dominik Mysterio, Ripley is actually in a long-term relationship with former WWE employee, Buddy Matthews.
The pair have now announced their engagement, with Ripley taking to social media to share a photo of her engagement ring and express her joy.
In the past, such announcements could have adversely affected a wrestler’s career, but Ripley’s confident disclosure has been embraced by fans and the wrestling world at large.
As a result, she is now free to share her real-life events without fear of any negative impact on her professional persona.
