On Wednesday, Brazilian police arrested Erika Vieira Nunes following a foiled attempt to secure a loan through fraudulent means at a Rio de Janeiro bank branch.
Security camera footage from Tuesday captures Nunes entering the bank while pushing a man in a wheelchair.
The video shows Nunes approaching a teller and presenting loan documents for the man’s signature.

The documents requested a loan of 17,000 reais (approximately $3,250).
However, the man in the wheelchair remained unresponsive throughout the interaction.
Nunes attempted to guide his hand in holding a pen, but the man did not exhibit any signs of life.
Alarmed by the man’s lack of response and overall condition, bank staff grew increasingly suspicious.
They observed his head repeatedly falling back, and he exhibited no vital signs.
Concerned for the man’s well-being, the bank staff contacted the police.
Officers arrived at the scene, apprehended Nunes on suspicion of fraud, and transported the deceased individual to the morgue.
Nunes’ actions raised a number of questions for investigators. They sought to determine the identity of the deceased man and his relationship to Nunes.
Additionally, they aimed to understand the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and Nunes’ motive for attempting to obtain a loan in his name. The investigation is ongoing.
