Unwavering Support for Tinubu
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has publicly declared his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, stating he has no regrets for backing him during the 2023 general elections. Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State for eight years under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was later appointed as FCT Minister by Tinubu’s administration from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gratitude and Determination
During a thanksgiving service in Ochigba, organized by the PDP in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas, Wike expressed his gratitude towards President Tinubu for entrusting him with the ministerial position. He noted that despite facing threats before the elections for his support, he would make the same choice if given another chance. “I have no regrets, I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes I will do the same thing,” Wike affirmed.
Addressing Land Grabbing Allegations
Wike also tackled accusations of land grabbing in Abuja head-on. He described these claims as baseless, emphasizing his role in managing land rights in the capital. “I am in charge of lands in Abuja, how will I go and grab what I am in charge of,” he questioned, highlighting the irony of the accusations.
Commitment to Justice
He stressed the necessity of adhering to legal and administrative processes, warning that those holding government land improperly must comply or face revocation of their land rights. Wike underscored his commitment to doing what is right, regardless of public outcry or propaganda against him. “No matter the cry you cry, no matter the propaganda you carry, if you like give me any name you want to give me, the right thing must be done,” he concluded, reaffirming his stance on governance and land management in Abuja.
