Suspected terrorists have reportedly claimed lives in Kakangi and Ungwan Matinja communities in Kaduna State, in a recent assault on the region.
The attack occurred Thursday morning, just a week after bandits killed three individuals in the Kakangi area. Among the victims were eight vigilante members, with the terrorists seizing the village heads of Kakangi and Kisaya from Kakangi ward.
Confirming the incident, Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that a combined team of police personnel has been dispatched to the affected areas.
Despite challenges posed by the poor GSM network, the Command is actively gathering information from the Divisional Police Officer in Birnin-Gwari to determine the extent of casualties.
According to community leader Mohammed Amin, vigilantes were ambushed by terrorists while trailing kidnapped victims en route to a burial between Kakangi and Sabon Layi.
Amin noted that while some terrorists were neutralized by the vigilantes, others managed to abduct the two traditional rulers before fleeing the scene.
