The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) recently announced on their social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), indicating that there might be an extension for Direct Entry (DE) registration. Although no specific date was given for the new deadline, JAMB assured candidates that an update would be provided soon.
JAMB acknowledged that their offices were closed for DE registration during the UTME exercise. To make up for this, they have decided to extend the registration window, providing more opportunities for candidates to apply.
The DE registration process applies to applicants with A-Level results who are seeking admission to the second year of university studies. In response to cases of fraudulent A-Level results, JAMB implemented a stricter verification system in 2023, which has slowed down the registration process.
JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, also clarified the 13 qualifications that are acceptable for DE registration. These include diplomas, certificates, and degrees from various institutions. Applicants are advised to confirm that their qualifications meet the specified criteria before applying for registration.
