Amidst recent speculations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially denied allegations suggesting a $10,000 visa requirement for Nigerian travelers. The UAE government issued a statement today, clarifying that there have been no changes to visa policies affecting Nigerian citizens.
Rumors of the exorbitant visa fee surfaced on social media platforms, triggering widespread concern and confusion among Nigerians planning trips to the UAE. The alleged requirement, purportedly aimed at Nigerian passport holders, was claimed to be a new measure implemented by UAE authorities.
The department categorically stated that the DV hub website, which allegedly imposed a $10,000 visa fee, is not affiliated with the UAE government.
When questioned about payments for document verification, The GDRFAD clarified the visa application process, stating that applicants need to submit a personal photo, a passport copy with a validity of at least six months, a travel ticket, and valid medical insurance within the UAE.

Regarding financial requirements, the GDRFAD explicitly denied any mandate for Nigerian visa applicants to demonstrate a bank balance of $10,000. “We are not aware of such requirements,” the directorate affirmed, advising applicants to process their visas exclusively through the GDRFAD.
Eche Abu-Obe, spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assured that further clarification on the DVN would be sought from the ministry’s office in the Middle East.
The UAE’s swift response aims to dispel misinformation and provide clarity on visa procedures for Nigerian travelers, reinforcing the country’s commitment to facilitating smooth and transparent travel arrangements.
