French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced on Thursday that U.S. private equity group Arctos Partners has acquired a minority common equity stake in the club.
According to the announcement, Arctos’s investment will be utilized for expanding the club’s operations, including supporting their real estate initiatives such as the stadium and training centre.
However, PSG’s current owner, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), will retain full control of the club and its decision-making, with Arctos being a non-controlling owner and having no influence on any on-field sporting matters.
Although the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, the Financial Times reported that Arctos would buy a 12.5% stake, valuing PSG at a whopping four billion euros ($4.32 billion).
The club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, stated that they are excited to enter the next phase of PSG’s growth and development, both on and off the pitch.

He mentioned that Arctos is a fantastic partner that will help them achieve their goals by bringing strategic expertise, ideas, and innovation to their business.
Moreover, Arctos’s investment will also provide new relationships to support their footballing and sporting goals.
Since QSI took over PSG in 2011, the club has won nine Ligue 1 titles.
Currently, PSG leads the standings this season after 14 games, with a four-point lead.
Notably, last month, Arctos agreed to invest in the Aston Martin Formula One team in exchange for a minority shareholding, valuing the racing group at one billion pounds ($1.26 billion).
