In the first leg, third round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s Falconets held Tanzania to a thrilling 1-1 draw on Sunday.
The game saw an intense battle between the two teams, with the Falconets taking the lead in the 60th minute through a goal by Chioma Olise.
However, Tanzania managed to equalize in the 71st minute, thanks to a sensational strike by Asnath Ubamba.
The second leg of the game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 19 November 2023, inside the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja.
It promises to be an exciting match as both teams will be looking to secure a win and qualify for the next round of the tournament.
It’s worth noting that Falconets advanced to the third round through a walkover after Mauritius withdrew before the first leg.
The team will be hoping to build on their impressive form during the tournament, having reached the quarter-finals at the 2022 U-20 women’s World Cup, where they lost 2-0 to the Netherlands.
Africa will be represented by four teams at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and the Falconets will be aiming to secure one of those spots.
