Two French pilots, Captain Sebastien Mabire and Lieutenant Matthis Laurens, tragically lost their lives on Wednesday when their Rafale jets collided in mid-air over northeastern France, President Emmanuel Macron confirmed.
The collision, which occurred during a training mission, resulted in the death of both pilots. One pilot successfully ejected and was found safe, while a search was underway for the missing pilot from the second jet.
The incident took place near Colombey-les-Belles, and while one pilot was recovered, the search continues for the remaining missing personnel. The cause of the collision remains unclear, and the military authorities are investigating the accident’s circumstances.
