Three persons lost their lives, while one person sustained injuries in an auto accident along Ondo – Ore highway in Ondo State.
According to reports, the accident occurred when one brewery truck, fully loaded with beer, fell on a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, with registration number BUR 852 TS, conveying passengers to Ondo, at Liyetu area of the town.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya who confirmed the incident said, the remains of the deceased persons had been deposited at the mortuary while the injured passenger was moved to the hospital for treatment.
“Policemen have been deployed to the scene, the deceased were deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ondo, while the injured passenger had been taken to Trauma Centre in Ondo town.
“The Police Motor Traffic Division of Enu-owa has moved into to clear the traffic on the road,” Odunlami said.
She urged motorist to ply alternative roads to avoid hold up, and drive safely and carefully to avert crashes.
“The motoring public is advised to make use of alternative routes to avoid being trapped in the holdup, and people whose loved ones use this route should endeavour to check on them.
“The CP is using this medium to admonish the people of the state, especially commuters, to avoid overspeeding or unnecessary overtaking, which can lead to loss of lives and property while driving, as it is better to get there late than not getting there,” she added.
