Hello, adventure lovers! Welcome to another episode of The Crux travel where we voyage around to explore interesting sites, beaches, monuments and so many more.
Are we geared up for another beautiful experience today? Are y’all as excited as I am? Behold, today’s destination is one of the only two suspended lakes in the world! Yes you read it right “in the world” and it is in no other place but our beautiful country, Nigeria. Buckle up and ride with me!
Today’s destination, Iyake Suspended Lake is located in Ado-Awaiye, Oyo state in the Southwestern part of Nigeria. Iyake lake which resides on the Ado hill, is regarded to be bottomless because it’s depth remains undetermined.
The most exciting activity here is mountain hiking. The lake is suspended on the highest point of the mountain, therefore to behold the beautiful sight, tourists hike to the mountain top. However, enroute to the top are numerous ancient sites, like the Esè àwon Àgbà, Yoruba for “footprints of the gods,” Oke Ishage, or Ishage Rock and finally at the apex is the beautiful Iyake Suspended lake.
