A middle-aged man named Eric and his unidentified girlfriend were discovered dead in their residence in Ondo City, Ondo West Local Government Area, Ondo State, on Saturday.
The tragic discovery was made in Eric’s apartment located in the Ayeyemi area. According to neighbors and local residents, the couple had been using a generator and charging a phone in a socket placed on the bed.
It is speculated that the woman’s chain may have come into contact with the socket, leading to their electrocution.
A local resident, Ayo, recounted that Eric’s relatives, concerned after failing to reach him by phone, decided to check on him. Upon arrival, they peered through the window, saw the lifeless bodies, and subsequently broke down the door to gain access to the house.

The Ondo State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident. She mentioned that the couple had been in a relationship for about two years, with both families aware and supportive of their bond.
The bodies have been moved to a nearby hospital morgue. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths to ascertain the exact cause.
