In a recent statement, prominent Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has called on the government and security agencies to improve their efforts in identifying those responsible for the ongoing oil theft in the country. Drawing a comparison with the United States, Elumelu highlighted the swift response of American authorities following an incident involving former President Donald Trump, emphasizing the need for similar efficiency in Nigeria.
“The government should know; they should tell us. Look at America, Donald Trump was shot at, and quickly they knew the background of who shot him. Our security agencies should tell us who is stealing our oil. You bring vessels to our territorial waters, and we don’t know?” Elumelu remarked, expressing frustration at the perceived lack of accountability and transparency in addressing the issue of oil theft.
