The name of Tobiloba Amusan, the world record holder in the 100m hurdles is missing as the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) released the squad list for Nigeria’s athletes to compete in the upcoming World Athletes Championship.
This year’s championship will hold from 19 to 27 August in Budapest, Hungary.
A total of 26 athletes would be representing the Nigeria comprising 15 female and 11 male athletes.
Amusan’s exclusion may not be unconnected to recent allegation of testing positive to three drug tests in a 12-month span, which can lead up to a two-year suspension despite an athlete proving to pass a drug test.
She won the only gold for Nigeria in the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA, where Nigeria finished joint 13th with one gold and one silver.
It was reported in July, that the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) handed Amusan a provision for suspension for ostensibly missing these tests.
The world champion, however, denied the allegation and vowed to challenge the charges.

The anti-doping body has announced that the charges against Amusan will be determined by the disciplinary tribunal before the commencement of the World Athletics Championships on August 19.
Amusan’s eligibility for Nigeria will be determined by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), as stated by AFN Technical Director Samuel Onikeku.
Udodi Onwuzurike and Godson Brume, who had a successful season in the US with their colleagues and qualified for the 100m and 200m events, are not included in the roster.
