President Bola Tinubu has highlighted the significant progress made by security forces in combating insecurity in the North-West region, stating that these efforts have effectively disrupted and dismantled criminal networks.
Speaking at the North-West Peace and Security Summit organized by the North-West Governors’ Forum in Katsina, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized that the current achievements are only the beginning, with further efforts underway to enhance security for all citizens.
“Our military, through operations like Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Safe Haven, have successfully targeted groups such as Boko Haram and bandits who have long threatened our peace. Enhanced border security and intelligence capabilities have enabled us to disrupt and dismantle these criminal networks. Many of their high-profile leaders have been neutralized, which is just the start,”
Tinubu declared.
He dismissed claims that the insecurity in the North-West is driven by sectional agendas, asserting that any disturbance in one part of the nation affects the whole. The administration has prioritized securing Nigeria since taking office over a year ago, employing strategies that have started to yield significant results in the North-West. Tinubu reiterated that there would be no let-up until the insurgents were completely dismantled.

Addressing concerns over non-collaboration among security agencies, Tinubu revealed that the government is working diligently to enhance cooperation and ensure a unified approach to the fight against insurgency. He stressed that standard operating procedures and rules of engagement are strictly followed in all operations against insurgents.
The government is also coordinating joint training exercises, fostering inter-agency cooperation, and improving communication and information sharing among security agencies to bolster the fight against insecurity.
The summit was attended by notable dignitaries, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Sultan of Sokoto, Governor Dikko Radda, Minister of Defence Muhammad Badaru, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, host Governor Umar Radda, and other North-West governors.
