President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 after a brief illness. The news of his demise was confirmed by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu.
In a heartfelt statement delivered by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu conveyed his condolences to the Iwuanyanwu family.
He described the late Chief Iwuanyanwu as an accomplished businessman and a notable politician, acknowledging his remarkable legacy and contributions to the nation. The President prayed for the repose of the elder statesman’s soul.
The Southern Governors’ Forum also expressed their profound grief over the loss. In a statement issued by their Chairman, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the forum highlighted Chief Iwuanyanwu’s significant role as a leader and patriot.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that Chief Iwuanyanwu’s passing is a significant loss at a critical time when his wisdom and guidance as an elder statesman were greatly needed.
