In anticipation of his administration’s first anniversary on May 29, President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos on Saturday to commence the commissioning of various projects completed during his tenure the CRUX NEWS reports.
According to a statement from media aide Bayo Onanuga, the President will inaugurate several key infrastructure projects starting on Sunday.
These include the concrete-paved road leading to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island.
This road reconstruction, initially begun under the Muhammadu Buhari Administration, was financed by the Dangote Group using its tax credits.
Additionally, President Tinubu will virtually inaugurate the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, which has received public acclaim for its superior finishing and aesthetic enhancements.
He will also virtually commission the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the country.
A major highlight of the President’s Sunday engagements will be the inauguration of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, a significant project estimated to cost about N15 trillion.
Construction has already started, with 1.2 kilometres completed. The highway will connect nine coastal states, with Section Two awarded to Hitech Construction Limited.

President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja on Tuesday to continue the series of project inaugurations.
His first task will be to inaugurate the Southern Parkway, which has been named in his honour by the Nyesom Wike-led FCT Administration.
On Wednesday, the President will participate in the National Assembly Dialogue Series and subsequently unveil the National Assembly Library Complex, also named after him.
Following this, he will relaunch the commercialisation of the Abuja Light Rail, known as Abuja Metro.
He will symbolically take a train ride to the city centre. The Abuja Metro, completed in 2018 by the Buhari Administration, was operational until 2020 when it was abandoned due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent vandalism.
FCT Minister Wike has since spent $15 million refurbishing the facility and constructing access roads to various stations, preparing it for renewed commercial service.
After the train ride, President Tinubu will inaugurate the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters.
On Friday, May 31, President Tinubu will commission the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre in Utako, marking the conclusion of his project commissioning tour.
