President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ayodeji Ariyo Gbeleyi as the new Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE). This announcement was made in a statement by the President’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, on Saturday.
The President expressed his expectation that Mr. Gbeleyi will leverage his extensive experience and skills to enhance the BPE’s role as a national resource center for capacity building and to sustain reforms aimed at promoting a competitive, private sector-driven economy.
Gbeleyi is also tasked with ensuring social accountability, efficient use of public resources, and fostering effective corporate governance and fiduciary discipline in both public and private sectors.
Mr. Gbeleyi is a distinguished financial expert and award-winning chartered accountant.
He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He has completed executive programs at London Business School, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Lagos Business School.

With over 30 years of post-qualification experience, Mr. Gbeleyi has worked in various sectors, including manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), investment and commercial banking, project finance, telecommunications, infrastructure, and public administration.
He previously served as the board Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and was the Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State from 2013 to 2015.
