The funeral rites of Sen. Abubakar Danso Sodangi were held in his country home in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Monday. Sen. Sodangi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, represented Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly for three consecutive terms, from 1999 to 2011. He passed away on Sunday night at the age of 70.
During the funeral ceremony, Gov. Abdullahi Sule urged Sen. Sodangi’s family and the people of Nasarawa Local Government Area to find solace in God, stating that life and death are in God’s hands. The governor also offered his condolences to the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin, and the entire Nasarawa LGA.
Mr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, also expressed his condolences, stating that Sen. Sodangi’s death was a great loss to the entire state and the country. He praised the late senator for representing his constituents well and contributing greatly to the development of the state and the country.
During the funeral rite, Mallam Yahaya Danbaba, the Chief Imam of Nasarawa Central Mosque, urged Muslims and other Nigerians to live a life worth emulating while on earth. Sen. Sodangi’s death is a significant loss to the people of Nasarawa state and the country at large. Before his demise, he served as the former Chairman of Gov. A. A. Sule Campaign Council in 2023.
