Yusuf Adenoyin, a 37-year-old suspected ritualist, was apprehended by security agencies with eight human skulls in Isua Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area.
Adenoyin was traveling in a Nissan car from Akure to Osogbo, along with four other passengers, when personnel from the Police Safer Highway Patrol intercepted the vehicle at a checkpoint between Isua and Epinmi.
A security source confirmed to Peoples Gazette in Akure that Adenoyin claimed he was transporting the skulls from Okene in Kogi State to Osogbo in Osun State to deliver them to an herbalist. The skulls were concealed in a sack of garri along with charms.

Police Commissioner Abayomi Oladipo confirmed the arrest, stating, “Upon interrogation, Adenoyin confessed to being the owner of the skulls and explained that he was delivering them to an herbalist named Opeifa in the Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo. He also mentioned other customers, including Almonso, Alfaa Agba, and Oshoyemi, who reside in Osogbo.”
Adenoyin revealed that the skulls were supplied by an individual named Imaila from Oboroke in Okene, with each skull being sold for between N30,000 and N35,000.
The police commissioner added that Adenoyin would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) unit in Akure for further investigations.
