Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by Elon Musk, has recently announced a significant increase in its monthly subscription rates for users in Nigeria. The new pricing will take effect immediately for new customers, while existing subscribers will see the changes from January 27, 2025.
New Pricing Details
The revised pricing includes:
- Standard (Residential): N75,000
- Mobile – Regional (Roam Unlimited): N167,000
- Mobile – Global (Global Roam): N717,000
Starlink justified these increases as essential for upgrading their network infrastructure to continue offering high-quality internet services throughout Nigeria.

In their communication to subscribers, Starlink emphasized their commitment to service improvement and informed customers that they could opt out of the service at any point without penalties.
Regulatory Hurdles
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) initially threatened sanctions against Starlink for what was considered an unauthorized price hike. However, this statement was later withdrawn, causing some confusion regarding regulatory compliance.
