On Saturday night, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, held a crucial meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to address the pressing issues surrounding the status of the contract with the Super Eagles Coach ahead of the last African Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The meeting was attended by the President of the NFF, Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, 1st Vice President, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and Legal Counsel Barr. Okey Obi, as well as the Hon Minister’s team, which included his Permanent Secretary and some Directors.
The discussions were very fruitful, and as a result, the meeting agreed to extend the expired contract with the Super Eagles Coach until the end of February 2024, providing a much-needed boost for the national team.
Furthermore, during the meeting, it was made known that the coach had agreed to a salary cut for the duration of the extended contract, which was a positive development.

The Super Eagles are set to take on São Tomé and Principe in a dead/rubber AFCON Qualifiers in Uyo, and Enoh expressed his desire for the team to secure a victory, which would be a good welcome gift for him.
While the team has already qualified for the African Cup of Nations, a win against São Tomé and Principe would be a morale booster for the Nigerians.
The meeting, which was held in Abuja, reached a satisfactory conclusion, and all parties involved expressed their satisfaction.
The fruitful discussions and the extension of the coach’s contract are positive steps towards the development of Nigerian football.
