Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sanni has alleged that the hike in prices of foodstuff was a deliberate manipulation by unscrupulous individuals.
Sanni made the allegation in his post on X, formerly twitter on Wednesday.
Recall that the economic hardship in the country had led to shortage and hike in the prices of foodstuffs across the country which has also been connected to hoarding and illegal smuggling to neighboring countries.
Also, several reports had been made of how security agencies have intercepted trucks smuggling foodstuffs out of the country, among other efforts by the federal government to clamp down on illegal smuggling of foodstuffs to mitigate food scarcity and price hike.
Reacting to the development, Sanni said the reported recent fall in prices of foodstuffs was a testament to the fact that some unscrupulous individuals were deliberately manipulating prices under the guise of inflation.
He wrote, “The fact that food prices are coming down in some states as reported in the papers shows that the prices are artificially and deliberately manipulated by some unscrupulous individuals hiding behind the inflation.”
