Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has announced Senator Lola Ashiru as the new Deputy Leader of the Senate.
Ashiru, who represents Kwara North at the red chamber,was announced during the plenary on Wednesday, to replace Senator Dave Umahi, who has been appointed as the Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ashiru was previously the Deputy Whip of the Senate and his former position has now been given to Senator representing Eebonyi North, Onyekachi Nwebonyi.
Opeyemi Bamidele and Ali Ndume still maintain their roles as senate majority leader and chief whip respectively.
On the minority side, no changes have been made in its leadership.
