A tragic incident occurred on the Osogbo – Gbongan highway on Friday night, resulting in the loss of seven lives.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Command, confirmed this in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, on Saturday in Osogbo.
The incident involved a private Sharon Nissan vehicle with the license plate number WWD574 AE, which lost control due to excessive speed.
According to Mr Henry Benamaisia, the Sector Commander, the accident which involved ten people took place at Ogidi village near Sasa bridge.
The victims’ identities were revealed as three females, one male and three children who unfortunately lost their lives in the tragic event while three other persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
The affected parties were immediately rushed to hospitals for medical attention.

The FRSC rescue team conveyed four of the dead victims to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, while three others who were indigenes of Osun were taken to Odeomu by their relatives.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The Sector Commander commended other security sister agencies for their joint efforts in carrying out the rescue operation of survivors.
He also noted that the victims’ belongings recovered at the scene of the accident have been handed over to the police.
In conclusion, Mr Benamaisia warned motorists against disobeying traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing that the command would deal with violators in accordance with the law.
