Solomon Buchi, a self-proclaimed life coach, and other Nigerians have recently expressed their disapproval of Rihanna’s latest cover shoot for Interview magazine.
The shoot features the singer dressed in a seductive nun costume, which many have deemed sacrilegious and disrespectful to Catholics and Christians in general.
Solomon took to his social media handle to share his thoughts on the matter, stating that every aspect of the Christian faith deserves reverence and respect from non-Christians.
He went on to express his concern about how Christians often idolize celebrities who constantly disrespect the most important figure in their lives.
In his post, he highlighted the hypocrisy of those who would not tolerate anyone disrespecting their physical family but are willing to overlook the disrespect shown to their faith.
He also criticized the double standards of the entertainment industry, noting that celebrities rarely dare to mimic clerics of other religions in such a disrespectful manner.
Solomon’s sentiments were echoed by many Nigerians who also condemned the shoot.
They argued that celebrities should be more mindful of the impact their actions have on religious communities and refrain from disrespectfully using religious symbols.
Many also called for more accountability from the entertainment industry, urging them to do better in representing diverse religious and cultural beliefs.
