The Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Federal Capital Territory, Dr Rufus Ebegba, has enjoined citizens to report any suspicious activities to security personnels in order to tackle the upsurge of insecurity in the country.
Egbeba said this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Abuja following several security threats in the FCT.
He stressed that the role of citizens in tackling of insecurity can not be downplayed, stating that it is a collective responsibility that citizens must wake up to.
He said, “Citizens must be aware and awake to their responsibilities because we all have a role to play. Should we notice anything suspicious or suspect strange developments, we are enjoined to approach the nearest police station or personnel to report or discuss our observations.
“Security and social order are our collective responsibilities and we must contribute our quota.”
Egbeba also commended the police and other relevant security agencies for their efforts to tame insecurity in the country.
“We must commend the Police and other relevant security agencies for their alertness and efforts to tame this disturbing development, which has led to the arrest of several criminal masterminds, and the release of kidnap victims and hostages,” Ebegba added.
