Hayley Turner, one of the most successful female jockeys in horse racing, is on the brink of achieving a remarkable milestone in her career.
The British jockey is set to attempt her 1,000th career win when she rides Tradesman at Chelmsford on Tuesday.
Turner, who is 40 years old, recently moved to 999 winners after partnering with Lunar Eclipse to victory at Newmarket on November 4th.
Since then, she has made 15 attempts to reach the four-figure landmark but has not been able to achieve the feat.
The Illuminate Christmas Ball Handicap over two miles at Chelmsford will be Turner’s next chance to make history.

The David Simcock-trained Tradesman is one of the leading contenders and has already won twice at the track under Turner in October.
Hayley Turner began her racing career in 2000 and soon established herself as one of the most talented jockeys in the country.
She was the joint-champion apprentice in 2005 and created history by becoming the first female jockey to ride 100 winners in a year in 2008.
Turner’s talent has seen her win several prestigious races at the highest level, including the Group One July Cup with Dream Ahead in 2011.
Her success has inspired a new generation of female jockeys and she continues to be a role model for young riders around the world.
