In an impressive display of dominance, Paris Saint-Germain triumphed over Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday, securing a convincing 4-0 victory over the former champions.
This was largely thanks to summer signing Goncalo Ramos, who scored twice to bolster his team’s lead.
Unfortunately, the match was not without its setbacks.
Kylian Mbappe, one of PSG’s most valuable players, suffered an injury in the first half.
It appeared to be an ankle injury that occurred as he won a free-kick, which ultimately resulted in Achraf Hakimi scoring the first goal of the game for PSG in the eighth minute.
Despite Mbappe’s early exit, the reigning champions soldiered on and scored another goal before the end of the first half, courtesy of Randal Kolo Muani.
The second half saw PSG continue their domination, with Ramos scoring his second goal of the game just after half-time.
The Portuguese striker was not done there, however, as he completed the rout late on, securing a resounding victory for his team.
This win came just days after PSG’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, further cementing their status as one of the top football clubs in Europe.
With this win, PSG currently sits in fourth place in Ligue 1 after six games, just two points behind the surprise leaders, Brest.
Brest secured a 1-0 victory over Lyon on Saturday, leaving PSG with some ground to make up if they hope to reclaim their status as the top team in the league.

Marseille, on the other hand, had a difficult week leading up to the match.
Their coach, Marcelino Garcia Toral, resigned after only seven games in charge, and there were reports of a tense meeting between club officials and fan representatives.
Marseille president Pablo Longoria and several senior colleagues opted not to travel to Amsterdam for Thursday’s Europa League match against Ajax, with doubts swirling about their future at the club.
Longoria has since decided to stay on, however, and was present at Sunday’s game in Paris.
The team was led by former player Jacques Abardonado, who took interim charge of the team.
Finally, it is worth noting that Selena Gomez was among the spectators in attendance at the match.
While the singer and actress may have been hoping to see Mbappe play a more prominent role, she was undoubtedly treated to a thrilling display of football from both teams.
