Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has responded to social media critiques, assuring Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is empathetic to their struggles. Addressing recent jibes that label the president “T-pain,” Onanuga stated that Tinubu is not “unfeeling” as some portray him. Instead, he is committed to repairing the economy and easing the financial burden on citizens.
On Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Onanuga dismissed the “T-pain” label as a “mischievous” nickname created by social media users. He clarified that Tinubu is aware of the ongoing economic hardships but may not personally see the comments circulating on social media. “The President has never shied away from telling Nigerians that he feels their pain,” Onanuga said, emphasizing that the administration is implementing policies aimed at long-term prosperity.
In response to the public frustration over soaring inflation, high food prices, and escalating energy costs, Onanuga argued that these “painful” reforms are essential steps toward stabilizing the economy.
Bayo highlighted increased revenue and economic growth as signs of gradual progress, despite citizens’ grievances over subsidy removal and exchange rate unification policies. While protests and calls for policy reversal continue, the government remains resolute, asserting that these changes are necessary for Nigeria’s future stability and growth.
