Ace Kannywood movie director and actor, Aminu Surajo Bono, is dead.
Bono’s demise was confirmed via an Instagram post on Monday night by popular actor, Ali Nuhu.
Sharing his picture, he wrote: “May God have mercy on Aminu S Bono and make paradise your final abode.”
Bono reportedly collapsed on Monday evening and was rushed to the hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.
Another colleague, Babangida Bangis, while paying tributes to the late Bono said the actor died on Monday evening.
He went on to confirm that the filmmaker “collapsed” and was taken to the hospital where the doctors confirmed his death.
Bangis also said the deceased who was not sick prior to his demise will be buried on Tuesday according to Muslim rites.
“He was not sick. In fact, we were supposed to meet earlier today,” he said.
“After we spoke on the phone, I was later told that he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
“He was confirmed dead by doctors at the hospital,” he said.
Bono was nominated for several awards during his lifetime, he was also a famous movie director in the film industry in northern Nigeria
He produced several movies including ‘Manyan Mata’, ‘Dan Gwamna’, ‘Nasamo Me Kahina’, ‘Alaqa’ and ‘Daukaka’.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described the demise of Bono as a big blow to the entertainment industry.
Ganduje who expressed shock over the passage of the popular actor said it came at a time when the industry needed him most.
The APC chairman, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu on Tuesday, stated that “Bono stands tall ahead of others in the entertainment industry in terms of commitment to preserve, and promote the socio-cultural values of the Hausa/Fulani heritage”.
“I want to use this time to identify and commiserate with his immediate family in particular, and Kannywood in general over the demise of one of the brightest brains in the industry, Ace movie Director, Aminu Surajo Bono.
“Bono’s life and times at the entertainment industry brought fame, to Kannywood,” the former Kano State Governor said.
Ganduje maintained that the late film director’s life on stage and off stage boosted the confidence of those who had contrary views of the industry.
The APC National Chairman noted, “I must admit that Aminu Surajo Bono’s exit has created a gap in the entertainment industry, and this is a reality we must contend with years ahead.”
The statement however quoted Dr Ganduje to pray unto Allah to grant the immediate family, Kannywood the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while he also beseech Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Janatul Furdausi.
