Nollywood actress Laide Bakare recently found herself at the centre of controversy after accusing Lagos State Police officers of misconduct.
In a video, she claimed that the officers harassed her, impounded her car (with her 14-year-old daughter inside) during heavy rain, and questioned why she was the only driver stopped while others used the same lane.
Her allegations sparked an online debate, with some sympathizing with her and others questioning her decision to use the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.
However, the Lagos State Police Command responded through their spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to Hundeyin, Bakare was pulled over for a legitimate reason: violating traffic laws by using the BRT lane.
The BRT lane is exclusively reserved for BRT buses, designed to enhance public transportation efficiency by allowing buses to bypass congested traffic.

When regular vehicles use this lane, it disrupts the flow of BRT buses and can cause delays for commuters.
