The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed three officers—Cpl Idowu Sunday, Inspectors Taiwo Kolawole, and John Ogbe—attached to Ijebu Ife in Ijebu East local government for extorting N312,000 from a student of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Kashimao Emmanuel.
The dismissal followed an internal trial, as stated by the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu.
Kashimao was flagged down by four armed men, one wearing police camouflage, about three weeks ago.
The officers demanded his phone, and upon compliance after a shot was fired, they forcefully transferred N312,000 from his account to an Opay account.
The dismissed officers will be charged to court soon.
