Excitement is brewing in the sports community as the Paralympics Committee of Nigeria (PCN) is set to commence camping for its table tennis team on September 14th.
The team is heading to Egypt for the Paralympic Games qualifiers and the National Stadium in Lagos will come alive as the players gear up for the competition.
The PCN made this announcement via a statement released in Lagos on Thursday and also revealed that it is seeking more tickets to Paris 2024 Paralympics tournament.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the 2023 African Para Table Tennis Championship will be held in Cairo, Egypt, from September 20th to 23rd, and Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Algeria, Lesotho, and five others will participate in the tournament.
The Nigerian contingent to the championship, which includes Commonwealth medallists Isau Ogunkunle, Faith Obazuaye, and Ifechukwude Ikpeoyi, has already arrived in Lagos for the final preparation for the qualifiers.

Ogunkunle and Obazuaye are targeting their second appearance at the Paralympic Games, while Ikpeoyi will be aiming for her first outing at the games.
The President of the PCN, Sunday Odebode, expressed his confidence in the Nigerian team and noted that the federation is working hard to ensure that the team would compete favourably with Egypt, the leading country in Africa in para table tennis.
Odebode also revealed the federation’s plans to present a large contingent for Paris 2024 and noted that the team’s participation in top-class tournaments would help them prepare adequately for the qualifiers and the games in France next year.
The players are eager to give their best and achieve great results in the upcoming competitions.
Obazuaye, a two-time Commonwealth Games medallist, expressed her desire to win a medal at the Paralympic Games in Paris, having narrowly missed out on the podium at Tokyo 2020.
She is confident that her experience and preparation will enable her to pick up a medal in Paris and make Nigeria proud.
