The Emir of Ilorin Football Championship is currently underway and the Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), Alhaji AbdulRazaq Wopa, has confirmed that the tournament’s final will feature the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable individuals.
Speaking to journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, Wopa explained that the MOC is organizing the competition differently due to the Emir’s uniqueness, who this championship is intended to commemorate his 28th-year coronation.
Wopa emphasized that the purpose of the tournament is not to generate money but to make a positive impact, which is why they will be using the grand finale to distribute palliatives to both vulnerable individuals and fans to alleviate the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
He commended all 32 participating teams for adhering to the rules and regulations of the organizers since the tournament’s inception and urged them to maintain the sportsmanship’s spirit.
Wopa expressed optimism about receiving more support from other stakeholders, particularly from Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while expressing gratitude to those who contributed to the competition.
The Emir of Ilorin Cup final is slated for November 11th, at the main bowl of the Kwara Stadium complex.
