The Committee on the Implementation of the End of Year Transportation Subsidy Programme led by Dr. Dele Alake, has announced that over 160,000 passengers have benefited from the initiative.
President Bola Tinubu approved free transportation on Nigerian Railway Corporation routes and a 50% subsidy on fares for bus routes.
The program, deemed a huge success, aimed at demonstrating the President’s love and empathy for Nigerians.

Between December 21 and 31, 2023, the NRC conveyed 71,000 passengers, while ALBON buses carried 77,122 passengers, totaling 163,878 beneficiaries.
The subsidies ranged from N21,500 to N15,000, contributing to easing citizens’ financial burdens during the festive season.
The committee addressed identified gaps by adding routes and engaging various stakeholders.
