The Inter-party Advisory Council has suspended its deputy chairman, Femi Adesuyi over alleged diversion of palliatives.
The announcement was made on Saturday, after a prior investigation into the allegations.
CRUX NEWS recalls that President Bola Tinubu, in a bid to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on fuel, disbursed palliatives to all states of the federation.
Adesuyi represented IPAC on the committee established by the Osun State Government to distribute food items provided to the state as palliatives by the Federal Government.
According to the allegations, 50 bags of rice were made available to be distributed, however Adesuyi distributed 35 bags and withheld the remaining 15 bags.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Osun IPAC, Wale Adebayo and Tosin Odeyemi, Adesuyi’s actions undermined the integrity of the group.
‘It was unanimously agreed among the members present during our last meeting that Femi Adesuyi should be suspended for six months.
“This decision aims to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency within our noble council, ensuring that no member is above the laws and regulations set forth by IPAC.
“In light of this resolution, we will be writing to IPAC national body, providing them with a comprehensive explanation regarding the suspension of Femi Adesuyi.”
IPAC also stated that relevant bodies and authorities would be notified of Adesuyi’s suspension.
Reacting to the suspension, Adesuyi dismissed the allegation, stating that the allegation and suspension held no weight due to its inauthenticity.
“I would like to state that the allegation is false and unfounded. Let me state that the 50 bags of rice given were meant for Imole Collaborators and IPAC,” he added.
