Former President Olusegun Obasanjo reiterated his stance on retirement from active party politics, emphasizing that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains his former political affiliation.
His remarks came during a visit to Osogbo, Osun State, where he attended the inauguration of the VIP lodge at the Government House.
In his address, Obasanjo commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his multifaceted approach to governance, praising him for being not just a “dancing governor” but also a diligent worker.
He referenced the governor’s past detractors, affirming that only joyous individuals engage in dance, and jokingly referred to Adeleke as his “dancing partner.”
Reflecting on the complexities of Osun State, Obasanjo emphasized that effective governance requires a foundation of God-fearing leadership, transparency, and integrity.
He expressed admiration for Adeleke’s performance since assuming office, citing recent developments as evidence of his commitment to progress.
Acknowledging his prior affiliation with the PDP, Obasanjo highlighted Adeleke’s efforts to foster unity within the party by convening meetings with prominent party leaders.
