The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has cautioned serving corps members against defacing their NYSC uniforms and urged them to maintain proper dress standards at all times.
Brigadier General Ahmed made this statement while addressing corps members at the Gombe State Orientation Camp in Amada and the Taraba State Orientation Camp in Sibre.
The NYSC DG emphasized that improper dressing while in the NYSC uniform would attract sanctions, stressing that “every Corps member is expected to abide by the Scheme’s dress code.” He encouraged the members to always appear properly dressed to uphold the values and integrity of the NYSC.
Brigadier General Ahmed also advised corps members to make meaningful contributions to their host communities by executing projects that would uplift the standards of living. He stressed the importance of acquiring new skills through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, which is designed to help corps members become self-reliant and capable of creating their own jobs.
He highlighted that many former corps members who took advantage of the SAED program during their service year have now become employers of labor in various sectors across the country.

The Director-General further encouraged corps members to utilize the North-East Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training center in Gombe. He pointed out that the center is equipped with sophisticated tools and resources that can significantly enhance their skills and future empowerment opportunities.
By focusing on skill acquisition and personal development, Brigadier General Ahmed believes corps members can position themselves better for a prosperous future while contributing positively to the development of the nation.
