The University of Jos is set to organize what promises to be the most exciting and successful Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA) games in history.
This was revealed by Prof. Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, who inaugurated a 27-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 27th edition of the games in Jos on Thursday.
Prof. Tanko Ishaya has said that they are working to make the event the best and most memorable in the history of the competition.
The University of Jos emerged as the host after defeating Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, while the University of Calabar withdrew its bid to host the event.
Prof. Ishaya assured athletes and officials that the university will provide state-of-the-art facilities that will meet their sporting needs.
He added that preparations are already underway to ensure the success of the event, and the LOC, which he will co-chair with two others, will work tirelessly to ensure that the competition is well-organized and memorable.

In addition to providing excellent facilities, the Vice Chancellor also assured athletes and officials of their safety during the competition.
He stated that the Plateau State Government will work round the clock to ensure that everyone is secure.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students of the university, especially sports enthusiasts, to participate fully in the forthcoming competition, which is scheduled to take place in 2024.
Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Deputy-Vice Chancellor, Administration, of the university, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the committee and promised that members of the committee would commit their time and resources towards ensuring the success of the event.
