The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced that the 2023/24 league season will kick off on September 30.
This news was confirmed by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of NPFL, Davidson Owumi, who has already notified the 20 participating clubs about the commencement date.
In a statement released by the Media Officer of NPFL, Harry Iwuala, it was revealed that the champions of the season will receive an impressive prize money of N150 million, which is a 50% increase from last season’s prize money.
Furthermore, the NPFL has also made provisions for the participating clubs to receive start-off grants, totaling N200 million.
Each club will receive a take-off grant of N10 million to smoothen their operations as the season starts.
The clubs have been urged to forward their respective account details to the NPFL Secretariat for the transfer of the said amount as the season is set to commence on Saturday.

In a bid to address some of the marketing concerns, Owunmi assured the clubs that the NPFL board is committed to making decisions and entering into contracts that serve the best interest of the league and the clubs.
He further disclosed that discussions are still ongoing with a company that proposed a ten-year partnership for broadcast rights.
He expressed optimism that they or other prospective partners will show up since talks are still ongoing.
The success of such partnerships will undoubtedly enlarge the economic frontiers of the league and by extension the clubs as they progress.
The NPFL has set the stage for an exciting and rewarding season for the participating clubs.
