The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board has announced the postponement of the kick-off of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The league was initially scheduled to commence on September 9, but the Board has rescheduled it to allow members to focus on the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which is taking place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
The Chief Operating Officer of the League Management Company, Davidson Owumi, explained that the decision to postpone the kick-off was reached after considering representations from various stakeholders.
He further stated that there will be no flag-off game as originally planned, following the complex logistics involved in having the Chairman and Club leadership travel from Ibadan to Uyo.
While a new kickoff date is yet to be set, the clubs have been informed of the postponement to enable them to stand down travel plans already made.
Andrew Ekejiuba, the media officer of GTI /NFF, made this known in a statement that was released in Lagos and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
