On this day in 1993, General Sanni Abacha the second republic constitution of 1979. He also formally established the Provisional Ruling Council (PRC).
2. Ghana Won The African Cup of Nations The Second Time
On this day in 1965, at the fifth edition of Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), Ghana won for the second time after defeating the host country Tunisia.
3. South African Police Shot People At Mamelodi
On this day in 1985, following the declaration of a State of emergency on 25 July 1985 by President PW Botha in 36 of South Africa’s 260 magisterial districts, the South African Police gunned down thirteen residents in Mamelodi.
4. President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe Officially Resigned
On this day in 2017, former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe officially resigned after a 37-years rule, following his impeachment as the leader of Zimbabwe African National Union- Patriotic Front party.
5. Stampede In Kwekwe, Zimbabwe
On this day in 2014, after a religious gathering anchored by Walter Magaya in Mbizo Stadium in Kwekwe, a stampede ensued which killed eleven and injured 40 people. The stampede was said to have occurred by police firing teargas after some of the crowd attempted to break off parts of the stadium wall to exit.
