The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has announced that the Olympic Solidarity Group, one of its affiliates, has secured funding from the International Olympics Committee (IOC) to host a Level Three coaching course for the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF).
The training program is scheduled to be held from the 15th to the 21st of October in Yanegoa, Bayelsa, and will involve no fewer than 25 coaches from different states of the federation.
According to Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of NOC, the initiative is designed to support the development of coaching and mentoring skills and techniques for individuals and teams to reach their full potential.
The course is expected to be anchored by international federations-approved facilitators, Vincent Aka from France and Zac Dominguez from the USA, who will be available to share their knowledge and expertise with the participants.
The IOC solidarity funding, which was secured through the Olympic Solidarity, is aimed at providing support for the development of coaches and athletes around the world.
The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) is one of the beneficiaries of this initiative, and the NOC has expressed its gratitude to the IOC for its continuous support towards the development of sports in Nigeria.
The training program will last for five days and will cover a range of topics such as coaching methodologies, training techniques, and athlete development.
It is expected that the training will equip the coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to help the Nigerian wrestlers reach their full potential.
The Secretary-General of the NOC, Babatunde Popoola, will be present to declare the training open on October 15th.
The NOC has urged all the invited coaches to take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the facilitators and improve their coaching skills.
