The National Agency (NOA) has called on its stakeholders and partners to collaborate with the agency to ensure effective mandate delivery in line with the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Director-General of the agency, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu made this call at the Stakeholders and Partners’ Retreat on Re-engineering NOA Programmes for more Effective Re-Orientation towards Achieving CLHEEAN Projects in Abuja.
The CLHEEAN projects which include Health and Hygiene, Environment, Education, Abuse and Narcotics as well as security were discussed during the retreat.
Issa-Onilu said the retreat was organized to re-examine the agency’s strategies to deliver its mandate, in line with the enormous expectations of the government and people of Nigeria.
According to Issa-Onilu, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government places a lot of value on reshaping attitudes, with the belief that positive attitudes generally will help push the country forward to achieve its national objective.
It is for this reason that the agency’s parent Ministry was renamed the Ministry of Information and National Orientation to enable all of them to concentrate on the task of national renewal.
The Director-General urged all stakeholders and partners to ensure that the policies and plans under the CLHEEAN project succeed.
He believes that the experience and expertise garnered over the years by their organizations will add significant value to the effort currently being made by NOA to achieve their mandate.
He further stated that citizens’ support is essential to the success of government and institutions’ projects and programmes.
The policies and programmes of the government that do not enjoy citizens’ support would intimately fail.
The primary role of the agency is to mobilize citizens’ support for government programmes and activities.
The agency would continue to provide platforms for citizen engagement to engender the success of the policies.

Issa-Onilu reiterates the need for synergy, cooperation, and coordination in the implementation of government policies, adding that NOA is set up primarily to take government policies to the citizens.
Their presence in all the states and the 774 local councils is an opportunity available to all stakeholders and partners.
They are re-engineering their process to deliver on their mandate of driving the communication of government policies, in achieving citizens’ awareness, understanding, and acceptance of government policies and programmes.
The Renewed Hope Agenda is a serious programme that will define the nation’s promise to its people with a corresponding citizen’s code, which outlines the duties of every citizen to the country and its people.
NOA is still cooking, but essential to the citizens’ code is the duty of care they owe to themselves and others.
In his remarks, Mr Salihu Dembos, Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), said NOA had a big task ahead of them.
He stated that part of the problems confronting the country was the issue of trust.
He urged the agency to do the needful to restore citizens’ trust.
Hajia Lami Adamu Lau, National President of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), commended NOA for organizing the retreat aimed at re-orienting relevant stakeholders and partners on the government’s policies, programmes, and projects.
She said that women faced all sorts of sufferings and accusations in society and urged stakeholders to put more effort into seeing how they could help women at the grassroots.
