The Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) held its 2024 Annual General Assembly at the National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Surulere, where the Executive Board was re-elected to run the affairs of the Federation for the next four years.
The board, headed by Olabisi Joseph, the first female President of the Federation, was elected unopposed by delegates from 27 states and FCT Abuja.
This was the second term in office for Joseph and her team, who were unanimously re-elected.
The delegates were in agreement that Joseph’s first term had witnessed the full return of NSSF to the international scene, with Nigeria’s participation in several International School Sports Federation (ISF) events in France, Mexico, and Morocco, among others.
In her acceptance speech, Joseph appreciated the delegates for their trust and confidence in her executive and pledged to work harder to make the NSSF a rallying point for talent discovery in sports.
The newly elected executives include Dickson Monday Tinism, Vice President (VP 1), Emmanuel Ebong, VP 2, Ifeoma Onuchukwu VP 3, Aminu Fada VP 4, Secretary-general, Dr. Obafunsho Usman, Adagbo Abari, Treasurer, Fawolu Olajide, Financial Secretary, Aka Ikechukwu, Assistant Secretary, Hassan Dauda, Auditor I, David Bot Danbuyi, Auditor II, and Sagiru Sani Dandano, Public Relations Officer.
Joseph was NSSF’s General-Secretary before she emerged as the first female president in 2019.
Her re-election demonstrated the delegates’ confidence in her leadership and her commitment to taking the NSSF to greater heights.
She pledged to continue to work harder with the new executives to further build on the successes achieved since 2019, which she hopes would eventually rub off on the fortunes of sports in Nigeria.
