The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft has successfully intercepted 19 individuals suspected of being stowaways on two vessels headed to Europe, identified as MT KRITI RUBY and MT MCC YANBU.

A statement released by Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, the Base Information Officer, confirmed the operation’s details.
Method of Concealment
Preliminary investigations indicate that these stowaways gained access to the ships under the cover of night, hiding within the rudder compartments in an attempt to illegally migrate to Europe.
Subsequent Actions
The first batch of 15 suspected stowaways was handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Lagos State Port/Marine Command, Apapa, on December 20, 2024, for further legal proceedings and action. The remaining four are expected to be transferred soon.
